TDC-RU10K-1939-01

This is an interesting clashing of the dies found on a 10 Kon from Russia minted in 1939.

While the dies appear to be in the proper attitude during the strike (medal strike), the clashing shows a 6° rotation. While this is not an uncommon event, the cause of the rotation remains a mystery as to why it happens.

This coin is in the privayte collection of Bob Piazza.

The next two pictures show the obverse and reverse dies and a close up of the clash marks.
