TDC-50c-1955-02

This is another die clash event that is found on a 1955 Franklin half dollar.

Due to the position of the dies when they did clash, the most prominent clash marks are from the M of UNUM and the B of PLURIBUS seen clashed into the area behind Franklin’s head.

The reverse die shows the line left by Franklin’s hair as it passes through the motto EPU.

Because of the position of the dies when the clash event occurred, the normal clash mark produced by the eagle’s right wing is not seen on the obverse die. There is some indications that another die clash event did occur at an earlier time in the dies life. This is indicated by the small box like clash mark seen under the eagle’s right wing.

The top of Franklin’s collar can be seen clashed into the field above the Liberty Bell.
