This 1989P Lincoln cent was subjected to two clash events, offset from each other, resulting in a counter clash. The two overlays represent the position of the dies when they did clash together. Notice the offset in direction between the two events.

The images below show the obverse die with two sets of clash marks left by the reverse die.

Notice that the offset in position of the two clash events. There are uneven clash marks in the bay and the base lines from the Memorial building.Also seen is part of the cornice and the vertical line that goes to the Memorial building roof.
