CCL(TI)-1c-1988-02

The images below of the obverse die show the strong, rotated, doubled clash marks. The two clash marks left by the bays on the reverse, near the back of Lincoln’s head, show the doubling effect the best.

Indications are that one of the die clashes may have been tilted a bit more than the other. One clash event appears stronger on the left side of the two dies.

The images of the reverse show the dual clashes very well. The marks left by the back of Lincoln’s coat from the bottom of the E in UNITED, down into bay 3, is the best indicator of multiple clash events. Due to the slight offset in direction of each event. a clash mark from bay three that was on the obverse was transferred back to the reverse die and shows as an extra third column just to the right of the third column (indicated by a black arrow).
