ADC-GT1R-1899-01

This 1899, 1 Real from Guatemala is a very strong example of almost a full transfer of design elements from one die to another. While the reverse of the coin does not have that many die clash marks, the obverse shows just about all the center design elements, including part of the date and the small bird on top of the scroll.

This coin also has a re-punched date 1899 over 1888 and a corrected assay value of 0.500 with the second 0 punched over an underlying 5 digit.

The above images show the numerous clash marks left by the reverse die. Part of the date can be seen clashed between DE GUATEMALA and the clash marks left by the bird and the leaves around the bird can be seen clashed through 1 REAL.

The image to the above left shows a portion of the 5 digit under the second 0 (indicated by black arrows). The above image to the right shows a re-punched 1 digit as well as two lower portions of 8 digits under the two 9 digits (indicated by black arrows).
