ADC-ES5P-1967-01

This 1967, 5 Peseta (series 1957) from Spain shows a dual event tilted die clash. One event can be seen clearly from the eagle’s beak to the 5 digit, while the other clash is below the shield. This coin comes to us courtesy of Roger Blain.
The overlays above show the different positions of the dies when they did clash for both events. The absence of clash marks in the middle of the coin, plus the difference in position of the clash marks relative to the dies that created them is sufficient evidence to proclaim that this is a dual event. Which die clash came first is impossible to tell.
The date (1957) and FRANC is clearly seen clashed into the field between the eagle’s beak and the 5 digit.

Less evident is the O DE E(Caudillo De Espana) seen clashed below the shield.

The obverse die does not show clear clash marks and this may have been caused by the die deterioration flow lines near the rim. However, the strong of the two clash events (below the base of the bust) does show the clash marks left by the denticles on the reverse die.
