ADC-CA1C-1898-01

This is an unusual die clash found on the obverse of this 1898H Canadian 1 cent coin.

The clash marks are confined to the area just below Queen Victoria’s bust. This indicates that it is a tilted die clash, one of the more rare events in the die clash world.

Some of the periods can be seen just below the bust area, along with the stem and some of the lobes on the maple leaves.

The reverse die does not show die clash marks.

The overlay, which is the last image, shows the relative position of the dies when they did clash.
