ADC-1c-1960D-55(SD)

This 1960D small date Lincoln cent shows a strong, tilted series of die clash events.

Above Lincoln’s head, the partial letters NE of ONE and the CE of CENT can be seen.

Partial letters of the word STATES can be seen clashed into the area below Lincoln’s bust.

A line can be seen through the mint mark and into the 6 digit of the date. This clash mark is caused by the bottom of the letters in AMERICA.

The V mark is part of the M in AMERICA.

The reverse die does not show any clash marks and was more than likely changed out for either repair or discarded.

These clash events can be recognized by the heavy die scratching seen above the word LIBERTY and the die chip on the E of AMERICA.
