This is a rather unusual die clash event since it involves a tilted die. While tilted die clashes have been previously found on wheat cents (bar clash mark through the motto E PLURIBUS UNUM: see ADC-1c-1928-01 & ADC-1c-1954S-01), this is the first one showing a tilted die clash at the opposite pole. This coin is in the collection of Ray Parkhurst.

The above image to the left shows the clash mark left by the field surrounding the stem of the wheat ear below the letters OD in GOD. The image to the right shows the clash mark formed by the top of Lincoln’s head below the words OF AMERICA.
