ADC-1c-1943-01 Stage B

Hiding on the back of 1943 Lincoln cent DDO-015 are a series of 8 or more die clashes. The doubled die obverse is a class IV involving an offset eye southeast. Markers match the CONECA files. The clashes start with 1-2, two sets of closely aligned marks, which were slightly misaligned about 3-5% toward the 10 o’clock position and somewhat tilted toward the southern part of the reverse die. As the clashes occurred, the misalignment slowly dissipates while the amount of rotation increases. By the 8th clash event, the dies rotated 38-39 degrees and erased most of the misalignment which largely changed from clashes 4 through 7. There could be more clashes, and the last slide shows an anomaly in the N of CENT that is similar to Lincoln’s neck at clash 8, but not enough for me to be certain.

This die stage was found by Cliff Reuter.
