MAD Clashes

The Study of Unusual Die Clashes

ADC-1c-2011-01

Below illustrated is a 2011 Lincoln Shield Cent with two sided clash marks. On the obverse, one can see parts of the striped shielding in the fields, slightly near Lincoln's mouth and on the coat collar, the shield's edge can also be seen in front of and behind Lincoln's portrait (this die is similar to ADC-1c-2010-01). Additionally, the letters UNU of UNUM appear in front of and behind the tie. On the reverse, within the shield design, are the bottom of the nose and part of the hair.

Die marker: lower left shield, in between the 2nd & 3rd stripes, there is a die dent or gouge which may or may not be from the clash.
